Naval Architecture Program

The Naval Architecture Program provides the student with a solid background in the principles of development, design and service of both ships and floating structures along with their propelling machineries, fittings and equipment.

The Croatian shipbuilding industry, having a long tradition, has always been an integral part of the world's shipbuilding industry; its development, determined to great extent by common occurrances on the world's shipbuilding market, has required permanent perfecting and innovation in skills and knowledge.

The application of computers and information technologies has brought about many changes in the shipbuilding industry, particularly in the field of development, ship design, production management and machinery control.

The first two years of study are devised to give basic theoretical principles (mathematics, engineering mechanics, computer use, engineering materials) and general engineering skills (ship's hull forms, ship structure, technology and construction process)

Having acquired a good education in engineering and, in particular, information sciences, naval architects as well as marine engineers are offered a wide range of employment possiblities.

The final years of study allow students to acquire additional specialized skills and experiences according to their own interests.

Only the first two years of study are offered at this Faculty; students may continue their studies either at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb or Technical Faculty in Rijeka.
